National Security Advisory Board

The National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) is an integral part of the three-tier institutional structure dealing with national security issues with the National Security Council at its apex. It was constituted on the recommendation of the Task Force under the Chairmanship of Shri K. C. Pant, the then Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.

The principal function of the NSAB is to undertake long term analysis and provide perspectives on national security issues to the National Security Council and to recommend solutions and policy options on issues which may be referred by the Council.
